3 Must-Do Items For New Members
Are you considering becoming a member of Louisiana Healthcare Connections? We’re glad you’re thinking about us, and we want to make sure you have the information you need to choose the right health plan for you and your family. Knowing what to expect as a new member of Louisiana Healthcare Connections may be helpful to you as you decide.
Here are the first three things we ask our new members to do:
Create an online account.
As a Louisiana Healthcare Connections member, you’ll have 24/7 access to your health information through our secure member portal. You can use this portal to manage your benefits, change your doctor, send us a message, request a new Member ID card, update your information and more. It’s your health – we want you to be in charge of it, and our member portal can help you do that!
Complete a health assessment.
Once you’ve created your online account, you’ll be able to complete your health assessment. The health assessment is a short survey that lets us know your health history. It will ask basic questions like your birthdate and height, and whether you have any conditions like asthma or diabetes. Don’t worry – this information is kept secure and confidential!
Choose a doctor.
Choosing a Primary Care Physician, or PCP, is an important step. Your doctor will be your partner in your health, so choosing the right one for you and your family is very important. We have a network of more than 20,000 healthcare professionals across the state for you to choose from. You can find one near you by using our convenient Find a Provider tool, or you can call us at 1-866-595-8133, Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., for help finding a doctor.
